Many will nod in agreement at Gennady Golovkin’s dismissal of Mayweather-McGregor fight

Gennady Golovkin has made his feelings known about Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in the past.

However, with the rumoured superfight now described as an inevitability by Dana White, the undefeated Kazakh has laid out why he doesn't see the match-up as a 'true' fight. Ahead of his title defence against Daniel Jacobs, in which he can extend his winning streak to 37 bouts, the 34-year-old seems to be continuing to play down the status of Mayweather v McGregor as anything even remotely comparable to the fight in which he is involved. https://twitter.com/danrafaelespn/status/842472748878331906 "It's a very different situation from me and Floyd - a business fight or a true fight," GGG is quoted as saying by TMZ Sports.

"Of course everyone wants to watch this fight, Floyd and Conor, because it's a show - like a new movie. "[It's] a different situation on my side, everyone wants to watch a true fight, a true boxing fight."

Golovkin has won 33 of his 36 bouts by knockout, and hasn't been taken the distance since way back in 2008 when he earned a unanimous decision victory over Amar Amari. However he will face a real test against Jacobs, who is on a 12-fight knockout streak after suffering his sole career loss to Dmitry Pirog in 2010.
