Sean Cavanagh is set to become the player-manager of his hometown club Moy, just weeks before their club championship opener in Tyrone.
Cavanagh had previously held this role before retiring from football entirely, although he came back late last season and has been used in sparingly throughout this season.
The three-time All-Ireland winner is now taking on managerial responsibilities following the departure of Kevin Murray, who stepped down with five league games remaining.
The Lámh Dhearg clubman endured a difficult season with the club, who despite being relegated from Division One last year, struggled to find any form that might see them get promoted again.
Clonoe are in the hot favourites in that division, and they proved why when they beat Moy 5-15 to 1-11, prompting Murray to step away.
Former Tyrone star Connor McAliskey is the star man in that Clonoe side, and even scored an unbelievable 4-08 against Rock St Patrick's last weekend.
It is Moy who need their star men to step up now however, as Colm Cavanagh and his brother have been the heartbeat of this team for two decades, and they are needed more than ever.
The Cavanagh brothers played a central role to guiding the club to All-Ireland success at Intermediate level back in 2018, so they will be hoping to emulate some of the magic from that year.
Any hope of promotion seems far fetched in terms of the league, but if they were to win the Tyrone intermediate championship this year, then they will return to the top flight next season.
They’ve been drawn against Kildress in round one, which is scheduled for the weekend of September 23-24, so that gives Cavanagh very little time to try and turn the ship around.
However, with his wealth of experience, determination, ambition and track record of success, he is undoubtedly the best man to pull it off.
