Pure admiration is the only way to describe Mayo fans’ feelings towards David Clarke after latest heroics

Now that is some level of praise.

Mayo secured their second win of this year's Division 1 Allianz Football League with a pretty comfortable 1-19 to 0-14 win over Roscommon at Castlebar's McHale Park. Mayo suffered a quick scare when they went 0-3 to 0-1 down after seven minutes but they truly kicked on after that as they put over eight points without reply to go into the half-time break in the driving seat. The game was effectively over when Cillian O'Connor rattled in a penalty at the beginning of the second half to send the home side nine points clear. What will please Mayo fans will be the source of their scores, as 12 different players got their name on the score-sheet throughout the 70 minutes of action which unfolded in Castlebar. Even Lee Keegan, fresh from his heroics in Croke Park a week ago, came off the bench in the second half to land two points for his side. There were impressive performances all over the pitch for the men in green and red but none so more that the game's Man-of-the-Match winner, goalkeeper, David Clarke. Clarke made two outstanding saves at the end of the first half from Roscommon's Enda Smith and Sean Mullooly. If either of those efforts had found the back of the net, the away side would have undoubtedly been buoyed going into the half-time interval and the outcome of the game could have been very different.
