Joe Canning offers positive update after limping out of Galway’s win over Wexford with suspected knee injury

It's good news (if you're a Galwegian, that is).

Galway almost enjoyed the perfect evening at Innovate Wexford Park. Almost.  The Tribesmen dominated pretty much from start to finish, Conor Whelan's early goal setting the All-Ireland champions on their way to another impressive victory, but the sight of Joe Canning going down injured was enough to overshadow an otherwise satisfactory day's work. With Galway cruising into their fourth consecutive Leinster SHC final, Canning went down with what looked like a knee injury. The Portumna club man wasn't fit to continue, hobbling off the field in the closing minutes during his county's 0-17 to 1-23 win. Losing Canning for any significant period of time would be a major momentum staller for Galway, but luckily the news is good. Sky Sports reporter Máire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh caught up with Canning as he collected his Man of the Match award and, although there was a pack of ice wrapped around his knee, the four-time All Star brushed it off as a 'knock.' https://twitter.com/MaireTNC/status/1002978839692238848 Yes, Galway can relax. He'll obviously have it assessed but the fact that Canning was up and about and in fine form post-match is a good sign. We can most likely expect another potential Joe Show in the Leinster final.
