News outlets reported during the week that the Dublin footballers and hurlers were planning to protest the GAA's Allianz sponsorship.
As per RTÉ, the sides were set to refuse to conduct interviews in front of Allianz advertising, with TG4 showing the footballers' game against Donegal in their Division 1 opener on Saturday.
Allianz's German parent company have come under scrutiny after being named in a UN report on Palestine and the funding of Israel's military.
However, Dublin star Greg McEneaney has revealed that the news was false, and that he only found out about it through social media.
At a Dublin GAA media event, he said: “To be honest, I was literally scrolling through Instagram, and the first I saw of it was by The Sunday Game – they posted it. We never spoke about it, never had anything.
“But obviously every individual, it’s up to himself. It's his own opinion, he can do whatever he wants at the end of the day.
“For me, I don't really have an opinion on it. I don't know enough about it. I'll just be there to play football on Saturday, I suppose.”
“No, it wasn't discussed at all. We actually aren't sure at all where the source is from. It hasn't been discussed once.”
According to the Irish Independent, the Dublin county board have also 'backed up' McEneaney's
