With JJ Hanrahan heading across the Irish Sea this summer, a big name signing is badly needed for Anthony Foley's side.
But they could be about to soothe the pain of the Kerryman's departure, with the Irish Independent reporting that they are lining up Australian Rob Horne as their number one target.
The Indo's rugby correspondent Ruaidhri O'Connor says that the 25-year-old Waratah is the man Munster see as the ideal replacement, with a big name signing needed to ease the fans' discontent.
Horne has 25 caps for Australia, and featured in all but one of their recent Autumn Internationals, the only absence being their loss to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
The end of the World Cup is often the best chance for Northern Hemisphere clubs to pounce on Southern talent, and Munster will need all the pull they can get to land the Super Rugby champion.
