Dana White responds sternly to boxing promoter’s swipe at PED problem in MMA

Hell hath no fury like a UFC president scorned.

It’s been a tough time for Dana White of late. Apart from the brief joy he must have got from banking that sweet moolah from the landmark sale of the promotion, El Presidente has had to deal with two of his biggest stars, Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones, failing drug tests.

To make matters worse, it took the shine off what the promotion had been hyping up as their biggest ever event, UFC 200.

So when veteran boxing promoter Bob Arum gave his take on all these UFC stars getting popped for banned substances to Fight Hub, White was never really going to react too well.

“I think there’s something inherently wrong in the UFC, with so many of the UFC fighters getting busted for drugs.  I don’t know what the reason is, while we do have drug abuse in boxing, it is nowhere near the level that it is on mixed martial arts. Nowhere near that level.”

“There’s probably truth in a statement like that (of Diaz’s). Not like everyone, but I’m sure that in UFC, in MMA, there is much much more drug use from the athletes than (what) exists in boxing. In boxing, it’s pretty well-controlled.”

Sure enough, White responded to the 84-year-old’s comments with a concise, but cutting text to MMAjunkie that couldn’t be mistaken for the words of anyone else.

“Does anyone give a (expletive) about Bob Arum or what he thinks? I didn’t know he was still alive!!?”

You stay classy, Dana White.
