Tommy Walsh: AGM

Niall McIntyre

“When you’re the waterboy you can still run onto the pitch, you know cause a bit of hassle if you need to, hop off a few fellas maybe, so ah, I’d probably be the waterboy…”

The club is where it starts, the club is where it finishes. Distractions, travel, county teams and other commitments can take you away from your own club but you’ll always come back, and they’ll always have a place for you.

A staple of the club season is the AGM, where they may be fireworks, arguments and soul-searching. One guarantee at the Club AGM is that you’ll come home with a job for the year, whether it’s secretary, groundsman or waterboy.

One of the most enjoyable and eagerly anticipated events of the club season is the Lidl Comortas Peil Páidí Ó Sé, with the mix of craic and competitiveness it brings down in the Gaeltacht.

It’s that time of the year again, with the Lidl Comórtas Peil set for the Dingle Peninsula beginning on Friday February 21 and ending on Sunday February 23.

By the Sunday, there’ll be sore bodies and there could be sore heads too. Clubs from all over are heading down to Corca Dhuibhne for the festivities and Kerry’s Tommy Walsh helped launch the competition recently, by playing GAA JOE’s AGM.

Lidl Comórtas Peil Páidí Ó Sé takes place between February 21-23 in the Dingle Peninsula. It’s a festival of football that promises craic, skills and a great competition.
