Club GAA activity, at all levels, has been suspended with immediate effect as a result of the rise in Covid-19 cases across Ireland. "The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety following a number of incidents that have been brought to our attention in recent days," read the statement.
"In particular, post-match celebrations and a lack of social distancing at certain events have proved disappointing and problematic..."
On Monday afternoon, the government are set to discuss NPHET's reccomendation for the whole country to move to a level 5 lock-down, which would mean no inter-county games could go ahead. If it was decided to move to level four, the inter-county game could continue, albeit with limited attendances allowed.
This announcement will come as a huge disappointment to the Cork, Donegal and Laois footballers who still have a championship to finish off. The LGFA and camogie associations have yet to move while training is permitted under strict guidelines.
