This is huge!

A crackdown on the number of team officials and substitutes permitted on the sideline is expected for this weekends inter-county clashes.

According to John Fogarty, journalist for the Irish Examiner, the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) have implemented this directive due to scenes that unfolded in Kerry and Donegal's hotly-contested clash last weekend.

The rule was highlighted after both sets of coaching staff and players bundled onto the after the half-time hooter.

It ended up with Jim McGuinness pushing Kerry's Diarmuid O'Connor, although the Donegal boss controversially managed to avoid a ban.

Despite not taking any action over McGuinness, the CCCC have made their feelings clear on clamping down on the sideline rule.

The rules state that only the manager, one selector and a medic are permitted in the manager's zone on the sideline.

Up to 16 officials are allowed in the specific areas of the touchline and the changing rooms, known as the 'controlled zone'.

Earlier this week Oisin McConville made his feelings clear that the rule was being abused at the highest levels of the inter-county game.

However, now it seems the GAA are set to be stricter regarding touchline offences in the aim to avoid a repeat of last Saturday's scenes.
