Inter-County Stars Recognised Across Senior, Intermediate and Junior Grades
The nominees for the 2025 TG4 Players’ Player of the Year Awards have been unveiled, honouring the top individual performers from an unforgettable season in Ladies Gaelic Football.
Shortlists have been named in the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior categories, featuring exceptional players from Dublin, Galway, Tyrone, Westmeath, Louth, and Antrim.
Senior Player of the Year
The Senior shortlist features three of the brightest attacking talents in the country: Hannah Tyrrell and Kate Sullivan from Dublin, and Olivia Divilly of Galway.
Tyrrell, who called time on her inter-county career after this season, capped her journey in stunning fashion. The Na Fianna star collected the ZuCar Golden Boot Award as the top scorer in the 2025 TG4 All-Ireland Championship. Her final tally of 6-28, including five points in the All-Ireland Final victory over Meath, underlined her remarkable consistency and finishing ability.
Meanwhile, Kate Sullivan proved a constant threat in Dublin’s forward line. The livewire attacker scored four points from play on final day and contributed 5-13 throughout the campaign. Her sharp movement, accuracy, and creativity made her one of Dublin’s most valuable players.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Olivia Divilly once again demonstrated why she remains one of the most technically gifted players in the game. A 2024 TG4 All-Star, Divilly led Galway’s attack with intelligence and poise, finishing as their top scorer with 1-16. Her performances in the early rounds and semi-final defeat to Dublin earned widespread admiration for her resilience and work rate.
Intermediate Player of the Year
The Intermediate shortlist is led by Tyrone, who were crowned 2025 TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate champions after last year’s heartbreak. Their victory came through talent, grit, and relentless teamwork, as well as their ruthless attack spearheaded by nominees Sorcha Gormley and Aoife Horisk.
Gormley, who operates from centre half-forward, delivered an extraordinary campaign. She claimed Player of the Match in the All-Ireland Final and finished the season with 6-19, combining power and precision in attack. Her leadership on and off the field was central to Tyrone’s resurgence.
Aoife Horisk, meanwhile, finished as Tyrone’s top scorer across the campaign with 4-28. Her accuracy from play and frees gave the Red Hand County a cutting edge that few could contain.
Joining them is Sarah Dillon from Westmeath, a previous winner of this award in 2021. Dillon’s intelligence and composure once again stood out as she inspired her side to a gripping semi-final, where they pushed Tyrone to extra time. Her blend of creativity and scoring touch made her one of the standout players in the grade.
Junior Player of the Year
The Junior shortlist shines a light on three prolific forwards: Kate Flood and Céire Nolan of Louth, and Theresa Mellon from Antrim.
Flood, a former winner in 2018, had another incredible season as she helped guide Louth back to All-Ireland glory. The Wee County captain announced her retirement after the final, signing off in style with an astonishing tally of 5-41 across the season. Her consistency, leadership, and scoring power made her one of the defining players of her generation.
Céire Nolan partnered Flood brilliantly in attack. Her pace and composure were vital during the championship, and she claimed Player of the Match honours in Louth’s All-Ireland Final victory over Antrim. Nolan’s ability to seize key moments was central to Louth’s redemption story after their 2024 final defeat to Fermanagh.
For Antrim, Theresa Mellon was outstanding throughout the campaign. Despite finishing as runners-up, she ended the year with 5-15, including two points in the final at Croke Park. Mellon’s work rate, accuracy, and ability to lead from the front secured her a well-deserved nomination.
Awards Night and Selection Process
The 2025 TG4 Players’ Player of the Year winners will be announced at the TG4 All-Star Awards banquet at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 15th.
Importantly, the awards are voted for by fellow inter-county players, who are not permitted to vote for their own teammates. This peer-based process ensures the results truly reflect the respect and admiration of the players themselves.
As anticipation builds ahead of the gala night, this year’s nominees represent the very best of what Ladies Gaelic Football has to offer: talent, leadership, and unwavering commitment to their counties. The 2025 shortlist stands as a celebration of excellence and a fitting tribute to another unforgettable season.
