Former World Champion Ken Doherty won four of the last five frames to take a 5-4 lead over Reanne Evans in their World Championship first round qualifier.
Doherty is in the unusual position of competing against the English woman, who's aiming to become the first female to make it to The Crucible.
Ken started brightest, getting the first frame on the board, but Evans reeled off three in a row to lead by two heading into the mid-session interval.
The Dubliner won three of the next four frames though to level things up at 4-4, and plucked the final frame of the session to take the lead for the first time since going 1-0 ahead.
It's a best of 19 frames game, so there's still plenty of snooker left to play, but with the pair winning frames back and forth, it could be a cracking second session to decides who progresses into round two, where he could potentially meet Kilkenny's Davy Morris, who practices at Ken's club in Terenure.
The pair will play to a close from 7pm tonight, so stay tuned for live coverage of the match on SpotsJOE.ie
