Westmeath GAA ban everyone from their pitches at half time for health and safety reasons

Jaysus, there was no such thing as health and safety back in our day.

There was no such thing as half times either or any of this broken leg nonsense. We just got on with... everything. But there'll be no more kick-abouts or puc-abouts, tag or dog-walking allowed on the pitches of Westmeath at half time from now on after the county issued a statement to clamp down on people being on the pitch at the interval of matches. The motion comes in light of an incident that took place at the weekend at the county ground in Mullingar during the senior hurling championship double headers and all club grounds as well as Cusack Park have been been told that no-one will be allowed onto the pitches for half time during games from now on. “In the interest of health and safety, and following an incident in Cusack Park over the weekend, we are advising clubs that there will be nobody (adults or children) allowed onto the pitch during the half-time intervals of matches," the statement read. “Please circulate this info within your clubs, also the same should apply to all club grounds.” Health and safety measures aren't enforced without good reason but spare a thought for the poor sub who's been told he's coming on at the start of the second half.
