Kildare blew Meath away with a strong first half showing in Tullamore to reach the Leinster Senior Football Championship final, their first since 2009.

Following promotion to Division 1 of the League, big things were expected of Kildare in this year's Championship and their determination to fulfil these expectations were clear from the word go. Cian O'Neill's side exploded out of the blocks in a scintillating first half display which granted them a nine-point half-time cushion. https://twitter.com/eirSport/status/876152461051953152 The Lilywhites, despite coming under pressure from Andy McEntee's Meath side early on in the second half confirmed their superiority over the Royal County with a strong finish to the game. Kildare were quicker, they had more bite, determination and drive. All of these attributes, as well as raw and natural pace, were embodied in Daniel Flynn's second half goal which was set up by their attacking speedster Dave Slattery.
https://twitter.com/eirSport/status/876161216435159041 Slattery received the ball almost in the middle of the field before he cut through the Meath defence like a knife through butter. The Confey club man, who works as a fitness instructor in Tallaght has obviously been working on that pace of his. Slattery wasn't the only Kildare forward on form in Tullamore, Daniel Flynn scored 1-4 from full forward on his way to the man of the match award and Cathal McNally wasn't far behind with 1-3. Johnny Byrne, Eoin Doyle and Keith Cribbin also deserve a mention for their utterly dominant half back line display. The stock of Kildare football continues to rise and rise and if any side are to end Dublin's stranglehold over Leinster football, it's this side.
