Any Kerry fans en-route to Monaghan, either turn around or go sight-seeing.
The early February weather has claimed another match as Kerry's Allianz Football League clash with Monaghan has been postponed.
On Saturday, Cavan vs. Meath and Fermanagh vs. Wexford were both postponed due to unplayable pitches.
There were reports of the pitch at Inniskeen Grattans being close to unplayable, too, so both Monaghan and Kerry attempted to keep their fans in the loop, through local radio and online updates.

This morning, shortly after 9:30am, there was good news.
Despite a sprinkling of overnight snow and showers forecast for mid-morning, there was hope that the game would go ahead. That would have been particular;y good news for the Kerry supporters that set off for Monaghan as early as 6am and 7am to make the 2pm start in good time.
A second inspection was set for 11am:

Unfortunately, for all involved, the condition of the pitch deteriorated and the game was postponed.
The average travelling time from Monaghan to Kerry is just over four and a half hours. Given the early afternoon throw-in, it is a shame that a decision was not just made at 9am rather than hoping for the best after the early inspection.

Judging by this Radio Kerry set of snaps, we can see why the game was chalked off:

The match will now be re-fixed and details will be announced by the counties and the GAA early in the week.
This will certainly not ease the current fixtures congestion in the game one bit.
A lucky man. Ger Brennan dominated headlines after Dublin’s relegation-sealing loss to Galway on Sunday. The Dubs boss got into a physical altercation with Galway’s S&C coach Cian Breathnach McGinn, with both men sent to the stands by referee Fergal Kelly. Brennan acknowledged the decision after the game and said: “Yeah look, myself and the […]
RIP. Tributes have been pouring in from the world of Irish sport, following the passing of broadcasting great Michael Lyster. There were touching scenes at Galway’s clash with Dublin yesterday, while both the Taoiseach and Tánaiste released statements. The legendary RTÉ Marty broadcaster Marty Morrissey also spoke about his former colleague, with a glowing tribute […]
Brutal. Mayo boss Andy Moran has hit back at Joe Brolly, after the pundit criticised his selection against Kerry earlier this month. Mayo were hammered 2-29 to 0-19 that day, with Brolly writing in his column that ex-player Moran was too reliant on his ‘old friends’ group’, referencing players such as Aidan O’Shea, Cillian O’Connor, […]
