Any Kerry fans en-route to Monaghan, either turn around or go sight-seeing.

The early February weather has claimed another match as Kerry's Allianz Football League clash with Monaghan has been postponed. On Saturday, Cavan vs. Meath and Fermanagh vs. Wexford were both postponed due to unplayable pitches. There were reports of the pitch at Inniskeen Grattans being close to unplayable, too, so both Monaghan and Kerry attempted to keep their fans in the loop, through local radio and online updates. https://twitter.com/Kerry_Official/status/962454854236016641 https://twitter.com/monaghangaa/status/962450530843922432 This morning, shortly after 9:30am, there was good news. Despite a sprinkling of overnight snow and showers forecast for mid-morning, there was hope that the game would go ahead. That would have been particular;y good news for the Kerry supporters that set off for Monaghan as early as 6am and 7am to make the 2pm start in good time. A second inspection was set for 11am: https://twitter.com/Kerry_Official/status/962625129393152001 Unfortunately, for all involved, the condition of the pitch deteriorated and the game was postponed. The average travelling time from Monaghan to Kerry is just over four and a half hours. Given the early afternoon throw-in, it is a shame that a decision was not just made at 9am rather than hoping for the best after the early inspection. https://twitter.com/officialgaa/status/962642523066982400 Judging by this Radio Kerry set of snaps, we can see why the game was chalked off: https://twitter.com/radiokerrysport/status/962655725381091328 The match will now be re-fixed and details will be announced by the counties and the GAA early in the week. This will certainly not ease the current fixtures congestion in the game one bit.
