Mayo boss belittles Joe Brolly’s column with cutting comment

Mayo boss Andy Moran has hit back at Joe Brolly, after the pundit criticised his selection against Kerry earlier this month.
Mayo were hammered 2-29 to 0-19 that day, with Brolly writing in his column that ex-player Moran was too reliant on his 'old friends' group', referencing players such as Aidan O'Shea, Cillian O'Connor, and Stephen Coen.
Brolly wrote: "While Andy [Moran] was bringing on his old friends, Jack O’Connor was thinking of the next generation of All-Ireland winners, including Tomás Kennedy, the 19-year-old wunderkind tipped to be the next Kieran Donaghy...
"It is hard not to think that this is a manager and an old friends’ group stuck in a past that can never be changed."
Moran responded to the criticism and clearly does not think Brolly's writing is to be taken too seriously.
He said: "I actually get on quite well with Joe. I’ve no problem with Joe, but I think it’s more of an entertainment piece than a football piece."
