Shane Dowling has been out of action since October. The Na Piarsaigh sharpshooter suffered a knee ligament injury in the Limerick senior hurling final against Kilmallock, and he hadn't played since. The 24-year-old made his return to the fray in the second half of his club's All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final against Ulster champions Slaughtneil on Saturday. There were rumours that he would start the game, but as it turned out, manager Shane O'Neill opted to leave him on the bench.
