Galway forward calls time on his intercounty career

Galway forward Sean Armstrong has announced that he will retire from intercounty football after 11 years with the Tribesmen.
The Salthill-Knocknacarra forward previously retired in 2014 but rejoined the intercounty panel last year after spending some time travelling the west coast of the United States and immersing himself fully in club football. Armstrong retires with three Connacht titles over the course of his career, a Division 2 league title and an All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship. He confirmed his retirement in a post on his Instagram on Friday where he thanked the teammates and managers he played for. “To all the managers, backroom staff, players and fans,” he wrote. “It has been a privilege to play for you and alongside you. “To my family and friends, thank you for your absolute support.
