Diarmuid Connolly to transfer to America for the summer

Diarmuid Connolly is heading stateside.

After months of mystery and speculation surrounding the inter-county future of Diarmuid Connolly, it has emerged that the St. Vincent's club man will be playing his football on the other side of the Atlantic for the summer. The two-time All-Star is set to complete a transfer to Donegal Boston, according to the Inishowen Independent. The paper reports that Connolly held talks with a number of clubs over the last few weeks, but that he has decided on the Massachusetts outfit. https://twitter.com/Woolberto/status/1006304705633538048 The Dublin forward will join a star-studded Boston outfit, which includes Carlow's Brendan Murphy, Donegal's Eoin McHugh and the club footballer of the year, Corofin and Galway's Liam Silke. Connolly has only appeared once in a Dublin jersey this year when he came on as a substitute in a National Football League clash with Mayo, but since then he's been missing in action. It all turned into a bit of a carnival with all eyes turning to Marino whenever his club St Vincent's were in action, with the five time All-Ireland winner appearing for their hurlers in one county League game. It now looks like Connolly won't be playing for Jim Gavin's Dubs for the rest of this summer anyway, which must be considered as a bit of a shame given he's now 30 years old, and undoubtedly of the most talented footballers in the country.
