With yesterday's Leinster SHC loss to Offaly, the Antrim hurlers were relegated to the Joe McDonagh Cup for next season.
It marked another disappointing inter-county campaign for boss Davy Fitzgerald, after a sub-par two seasons with Waterford.
Last week, Antrim great, Terence 'Sambo' McNaughton, hit out at Fitzgerald for his controversial interviews.
He said: “Considering he’s such an experienced manager ..... some of the interviews he does are just plain stupid.
“They are totally mind-boggling. Throwing players under the bus, throwing teams under the bus, totally disrespecting the players and there’s absolutely no need for it.
“That’s not how to get the county behind you and the supporters behind you either.
“Every interview he does just winds me up more and more. To come out and say that ‘I’ve got to teach Antrim hurlers to walk again’, it’s bullshit."
After yesterday's loss, Fitzgerald questioned McNaughton's class.
He responded: “I have good time for Sambo, I'm just so disappointed in him. He was in management, probably didn't do great. I have so much respect for him and I'm just so disappointed in what he did but he's entitled to his opinion.
“He's entitled to his opinion but it doesn't show class. I'm not going to say anything bad about him because I'm just disappointed, just disappointed in him.
“It doesn't need that; we're trying our absolute best so we don't need the likes of that, but he's entitled to his opinion.”
