Cork goalkeeper Anthony Nash will captain Jimmy Barry-Murphy's side for the 2015 season.

The announcement was made today that Nash would take the role after Patrick Cronin made it clear that he wanted to step down in order to concentrate on his playing career. Barry-Murphy revealed that he took Cronin's decision "with regret" after praising the "significant contribution made by Patrick to Cork hurling." These contributions included guiding the Rebels to the All-Ireland Final in 2013 and the Munster title in 2014. Nash takes the honour nine years after making his senior debut for the county against Waterford in 2006. The Kanturk man, who led Cork out for the first time in tonight's Canon O'Brien cup victory over UCC, has won All Star awards in 2012 and 2013 for his performances for the Rebels.
