Premier League star Pape Souare ‘airlifted to hospital after horror car crash’

Premier League defender Pape Souare has been airlifted to hospital after a horror car crash, according to reports.

The Crystal Palace left back, 26, was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the motorway, on Sunday. He was taken to hospital by air ambulance, but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Images were circulating on Twitter of what is purported to be Souare's car after the accident. https://twitter.com/_J_a_c_o_b_K_B_/status/775061697769959425 Souare's club Crystal Palace have not yet commented on the incident but police are appealing for witnesses. A MET Police statement read: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 motorway. "Officers were called shortly before 12:10hrs on Sunday, 11 September to reports of two cars in collision between junctions four and three. "London Ambulance Service attended and the driver of one of the cars - a man aged in his 20s - was taken to an east London hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening. "The driver of the other car involved did not require hospital treatment. "Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, to contact them on 020 8543 5157. "Enquiries into the circumstances continue. "There have been no arrests." A Senegalese international, Souare joined Palace in January 2015 having previously played in France for Reims and Lille. He signed a new three-year contract with the Eagles in January this year. He was not selected for the Palace squad for the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
