Ireland ace Troy Parrott could barely have envisioned a better start to his Real Betis career, scoring the winner last week against Real Madrid, before repeating the feat in his side's 3-2 win over Lille last night, in what was his Champions League debut.
The hype has been real in Ireland for a while now, and it has truly hit the south of Spain over the past few weeks.
Following the win over Lille, Spanish 'X' was alight with praise for the Dubliner.
The tweet that possibly best encapsulates the pandemonium, went as far as to describe it as a religion.
@MateQueee wrote: "PARROTTISM: Refers to the movement that emerged in the city of Seville in mid-2026. With strong Irish roots and influence, said movement kept growing, giving rise to the birth of the Parrottian religion."
Other fans said: "Up until today, I've seen him take 2 shots and each one worse than the last, today he put it into his own net and that wasn't the best thing he did, he won all the balls, all the duels and was far superior to Cucho. Congratulations Parrott!!!"
"Parrott. The start of a legend (?). An Irishman brightening up Betis's life. Like Don Patricio O’Connell in 1935".
"What a player Troy Parrott is. He's going to tear it up in Spain. Absolute belter for Betis's 3-2."
