Liverpool called on fans to remember the club's inclusive values

Liverpool have released a short statement urging supporters to remember the club's inclusive values after Billy Gilmour was targeted with 'offensive and inappropriate' chants during the Premier League win at Norwich. Gilmour has joined Norwich on loan from Chelsea for the duration of the season and featured in the newly promoted side's 3-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon. After full-time, a tweet from Kop Outs, Liverpool's LGBT+ supporters group, condemned the chants directed at the Scotland international, quote tweeting a two-year-old statement from Kick It Out which explains why the "rent boys" chant is homophobic. "Great result today marred by homophobic chanting by some of our fans targeting Chelsea loanee Billy Gilmour," Kop Outs tweeted. "If you can't support without resorting to bigoted nonsense, you don't understand YNWA." Liverpool echoed the message of Kop Outs' tweet, adding: "The chant is offensive and inappropriate - a message we have repeatedly communicated alongside Kop Outs.
