Graeme Souness has questioned why Celtic have not condemned anti-monarchy displays by some of the club's supporters. He also called out the fans for 'damaging' Celtic's brand with their actions. Last Sunday, during the team's 2-0 loss to St Mirren, some Celtic fans chanted, 'If you hate the Royal Family clap your hands'. They also held up a banner with the same slogan during the Scottish Premiership game. Uefa have also charged Celtic after some of their supporters displayed an anti-monarchy banner during the club's Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk last week

Souness calls out Celtic and Celtic supporters over anti-monarchy displays.

Former Rangers player and manager Souness has said that Celtic supporters have let the club down at a time when 'the eyes of the world' were on the United Kingdom ahead of the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. "Whatever I say on this people will say they expect that because I was employed by Glasgow Rangers and I’m a Rangers fan," Souness said on talkSport. "But you try to stand back a bit and the eyes of the world were on this country in the last 10 days. It is a minority who are guilty of this but also a minority that are damaging the brand of Celtic. "(Celtic are) synonymous with being the first British team to win the European Cup, great success and an absolute institution in Scotland. Beyond belief. If you’re a Rangers fan it’s happy days."

"They want the silence to continue. They’re [Celtic] shooting themselves in the foot," Souness continued. "They should have been out days ago condemning this. And for everyone who doesn’t like Celtic, the music is brilliant and want it to keep going. "The eyes of the world were on Great Britain and I have to stress it’s a minority. I have pals who are Celtic fans and are condemning this so why aren’t the club?”
