Wallabies second-row Rory Arnold will miss the first test of Ireland’s summer tour of Australia after he received a three week suspension by the Super Rugby judiciary for a high tackle on Lions fly-half Elton Jantjies.
Arnold pleaded guilty to the charge in the 60th minute of the Brumbies’ 42-24 loss at Ellis Park on Saturday and he had his suspension reduced to three weeks from the original mid-range entry point of six weeks for his excellent disciplinary record and his early guilty plea.

“Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles, and a statement from the player, the foul play review committee upheld the citing under law 9.13,” the committee said on Sunday night.
“With respect to sanction the foul play review committee deemed the act of foul play, a dangerous high tackle, merited a mid-range entry point of [six] weeks.
“However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player’s excellent, clear, disciplinary record, his expressed remorse and his guilty plea at the first available opportunity, the foul play review committee reduced the suspension to [three] weeks.
Arnold will miss the the Brumbies next two games but will be free to return to the field after June 9, which will be after the first test with Ireland in Brisbane.
