Here’s what Dana White said to Khabib when he refused to hand him his belt

Michael Bisping believes Khabib Nurmagomedov could be stripped of his UFC lightweight belt, be suspended for a long time and face criminal charges.

Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor by neck crank (submission) in the fourth round of their main event at UFC 229. Dana White watched it all unfold from cage-side but his night was only getting started.

That was the business side of the fight, but chaos descended soon after as he lept from The Octagon to trade blows with McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis.

Members of the Dagestani’s entourage then stormed The Octagon to attack McGregor before security and police were needed to intervene.

“This is absolutely the craziest moment I have seen in all my years calling fights,” declared UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

McGregor was escorted out first while security kept ‘The Eagle’ in The Octagon and boos rang out in the T-Mobile Arena.

Nurmagomedov, who defended his belt successfully for the first time, was livid at the end of the fight and demanded to be given his title.

After several minutes, UFC president Dana White approached Nurmagomedov and told him why he would not be getting his belt. He said:

“If I put this belt on you, people will lose their shit and start throwing stuff in The Octagon… Other people will get hurt.”

Speaking to FOX Sports an hour after the fight, White commented:

“I knew that was going to happen… if we put the belt on him in The Octagon, they would be throwing beer and stuff down on them… We had to get him out of there.”

White confirmed there had been three arrests for the post-fight fracas.

At that, White left The Octagon and Nurmagomedov was left to face a chorus of boos and cat-calls. Thousands of Irish supporters were in the arena but many neutrals were also disgusted at the post-fight antics.
