Ger Canning calling the final point of Galway’s epic with Tipperary will forever be immortalized. It was the moment of the summer hands down.
Galway reached another All-Ireland final but this one was going to be different, this was their time.

Canning’s point said it all, a pot shot against a team that were much fancied at the start of the year. The last play of the game and Galway’s poster boy was the man to dump them out of the competition. It’ll be replayed for years to come.
Watching the point is great but the snapshot of the Portumna man’s reaction to the point says it all. The old cliché of a picture telling a thousand words holds true.

Canning knew in that moment he was heading to the final, Galway were heading to the final. It was the photo of the summer, if not the photo of the year.
