St. Patricks Corduff 2-17

Holy Spirit, Ballymun 2-3

This years Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Finals got off to an absolutely cracking start as Holy Spirit, Ballymun faced off against St. Patricks Corduff.

In a game that ebbed and flowed it was the Ballymun boys who made the brighter start, with an early goal through Daryl Fahy.

Holy Spirit continued to dominate and it wasn’t long before midfielder Emmanuel OseiBonsu started to make his presence felt, rising high into the sky to claim a St.Patrick’s kick-out, a catch that may well go down as the pluck of the tournament.

It was that man OseiBonsu again who drove through the heart of the Corduff defence to score Ballymun’s second goal of the day.

Despite a bad opening ten minutes, the Corduff boys rallied. An audacious overhead kick by 11 got them back into the game. This was the score that seemingly woke up the St. Patrick’s side as they continued to eat into Holy Spirit’s lead.

Finally the game sprung to life with a huge block from Holy Spirit’s Hayden Whelan that really got the crowd off their feet. A goalmouth scramble ensued, which resulted in some fine soccer skills from Diarmuid O’Brien that lead to a Corduff score.

Holy Spirit responded in kind with back to back points from Babaloki Tingwane & Michael Morgan.

With the Ballymun side seemingly in control, disaster struck as Corduff midfielder, Raoul Orazi sent in a long ball that deceived everybody and landed in the Ballymun goal.

St. Patricks Corduff followed up their goal with a quickfire point through 21, followed by another score from 11. 1-2 without reply Corduff were makign a real game of this.

Ballymun settled down thereafter and another lung-bursting run from OseiBonsu ended with a fantastic score for the midfielder.

The half ended with a brace of points by Ajibola Oluwabyi to bring Corduff back to within a point at half-time.

Half-time score Holy Spirit, Ballymun 2-3 St. Patricks Corduff 1-5.

Oluwabyi scored his third point in a row after half time as St.Patricks really began to turn the screw. The silky corner forward used great trickery to get from two defenders and score another point that edged Corduff in front for the first time in the game.

From here on out it was all St. Patricks Corduff as they stormed their way to victory on a scoreline of 2-17 to 2-3.

Some great performances all round, in particular from Emmanuel OseiBonsu for Ballymun and Luke Curtis for Corduff, but man of the match was undoubtedly that man, Ajibola Oluwabyi.
