Oisín McConville believes Dublin manager, Ger Brennan should have defied his ban by taking his place on the sideline for Dublin's All-Ireland Round 1 defeat to Louth last Sunday.
The Dublin coach is currently serving a 12-week suspension due to an incident involving Galway S&C coach, Cian Breatnach McGinn.
However, there is a sense of injustice due to Donegal manager, Jim McGuinness avoiding retribution following a heated exchange with Kerry's Diarmuid O'Connor during a post-hooter melee between both sides.
Notably, last Sunday, Dublin skipped media duties after their championship loss to The Wee County. It is important to mention Dublin are not under any obligation to provide interviews after the game.
McConville, although, believes Dublin didn't go far enough by snubbing journalists.
Speaking to the GAA Social Podcast, the Armagh 2002 SFC winner said: "If I was Ger Brennan at the weekend, I would have arrived at Croke Park and stood at the sidelines, with the blessing of the County Board.
"I would have went to the County Board during the week and said it was time to make a stand. Dublin made a stand after the game because they didn't talk to any press or any media duties.
"But I feel strongly enough that I think Ger Brennan should have went and put himself on the line."
The Wicklow manager added: "They obviously feel strongly about it, but I feel it was the day to make a bigger stand than refusing media duties.
"I feel that strongly about it - that was the thing that was ringing in my head all week.
"Does not talking to the media hurt? You make a point but they are under no obligation to do media duties anyway."
However, GAA president, Jarlath Burns has stated it's irrational to compare Ger Brennan and Jim McGuinness incidents.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland programme ahead of the All-Ireland second-round draw, Burns was asked about the controversy.
Burns said: "What we stress is very important in our association is that once you give the referee a whistle and send him out to referee a match, we are not going to re-referee the game.
"In the second game, the Donegal-Kerry game, the circumstances were different. When we read the referee's report, he had referred to it and that was enough. He had decided not to suspend anybody, not to send anybody [else] off.
"So there is a difference there and we have to respect that difference. The referee is the sole arbiter of what happens during the 70 minutes.
"So if the Kerry-Donegal thing hadn't happened, I don't think there would have been any more debate.
"Or if the Ger Brennan thing hadn't happened, I don't think there would have been any debate about the Kerry-Donegal thing.
On Brennan's ban in particular, Burns added: "Hopefully we can move on from this. The one area I do feel for Ger is that the place where a manager wants to be on the day of a match is on the sideline, in the changing rooms.
"I really felt for Ger, he got 12 weeks at the worst possible time that you could get 12 weeks, which is in the very last game of the Allianz League.
"I felt for him in that. Dublin took that the whole way to the DRA and it proved that our procedures were robust on it. There is a difference.
"In Ger Brennan's case, he got a red card. The referee made it very clear in his report what had happened and it was minimal contact with a player, that's the ban.
"If Dublin decide that they want to change that, they can bring a motion to Congress and change it, obviously."
