Embarrassing ticketing mistake for All-Ireland semi replay could see touts have a field day

Caveat emptor

Ben Kiely

Anyone looking to buy tickets for the replay between Mayo and Dublin now have something extra to worry about.

Apparently, there was a bit of a mess up while issuing tickets for the All-Ireland senior football semi-final replay to fans this week.

A selection of people who purchased the tickets from the website tickets.ie were accidentally sent a second copy.

The site have asked those who have received extra tickets to destroy one set and keep hold of the other to gain admission to the game. The scanning system means that only the first ticket scanned will allow entry to the match, while any duplicates scanned after the first set will be refused.

Here’s hoping human decency will prevail and people won’t take advantage of this mistake by selling off the duplicate tickets and arriving early at the ground to ensure they get in.

Cheers to Dave Higgins for sending this our way.
