Diarmuid Connolly’s American debut confirmed and here’s how you can watch it live

Many GAA fans, at home and abroad, will be following this one closely.

Dublin secured their 13th Leinster title in 14 championship summers, last weekend, but Diarmuid Connolly was not out on the Croke Park pitch to share the triumph.

The two-time All Star has opted to head to America for the summer. He only made one appearance for Dublin in 2018, in the Allianz Football League, and his last championship outing was the All-Ireland final victory over Mayo.

The Dublin forward will join a star-studded Donegal Boston outfit, which includes Carlow’s Brendan Murphy, Donegal’s Eoin McHugh and the club footballer of the year, Corofin and Galway’s Liam Silke.

Earlier this week, before jetting off to the United States, Connolly posted this snap and declared, ‘See y’all soon’.

Connolly has now landed in Boston and he is set to play his first game for his new club. It won’t be an easy start either.

Donegal Boston are on the road and scheduled to face table-topping Connemara Gaels on Sunday afternoon (local time). Temperatures in Boston will be over 30 degrees, according to local forecasts, on Sunday afternoon so it is fortunate that Connolly will have been able to acclimatise during the Irish heatwave.

There are six teams in the league Connolly will find himself pitched into. Gaels are top after three games – two wins and a draw – while Donegal Boston are down in 5th after only winning one of their matches so far.

Anyone keen on watching the game will be able to follow a LIVE STREAM on the Connemara Gaels Facebook page from 2:30pm [7:30pm Irish time] on Sunday.

While the 30-year-old has a heap of talented teammates at his new club, Gaels are well stacked too.

Among their squad are Stephen O’Brien (Tipperary), David Lynch (Westmeath), rory Connor (Longford), Glen Malone and Martin O’Connor (both Wexford) and five young talents with Galway Minor and U20 experience – Colm Brennan, Patrick O’Donnell, Sean Mulkerrin, Tyler Flaherty, Dessie Conneely.

There are four games left in the six-team league section, with the top four all going on to the semi-finals.
