Shut up and take our money.
Des Cahill has an autobiography coming out later this year and it’s sure to be an interesting read.
Sports fans all over the country will know Cahill as a fiercely passionate GAA man who was also fronted a host of huge sporting events for RTE, from World Cups and Olympics to Tour de France(s) and Ryder Cups.
The Dubliner cut is reporting teeth in local and regional newspapers before getting his big break at RTE in 1984. He was a regular on the Radio 1 and 2FM sporrs bulletins for many years before fronting Sportscall in the mid 1990s.
He was the host of a sports quiz ‘Play It Again’ and started to get more and more involved with the station’s GAA coverage before, in 2009, he took over as the Sunday evening host of The Sunday Game. Nine years at the helm and Cahill still loves getting along to the games live, when he can, to help him prepare for the big show.
More recently, Cahill gained a new audience with his efforts on Ireland’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ show and was a fan favourite.
After decades on our TV screens and radios, Cahill will certainly have a few great yarns to tell. Fittingly, his upcoming autobiography is entitled ‘Play it Again, Des’.
I never thought I’d have an autobiography. Mind you, last year I never thought I’d be dancing on tv every Sunday, either! I’m hoping you’ll find it a good read!! Publication Date: September 27. pic.twitter.com/tUiKC1ee0u

Look at that charming half-grin from Cahill. That knowing swagger. The stories waiting to be told within. How could you not pick up this book?
Play It Again is due on book shelves in late September.
