5 Club Championship Games You Can’t Miss This Weekend

Seamus Brady

From Dublin drama to Munster showdowns – here are the must-watch GAA games coming up.

It’s another massive weekend of club championship action right across Ireland. We’ve highlighted five huge club championship games to watch out for.

Dublin SFC Final: Ballyboden St Enda’s v Na Fianna

📅 Saturday 18 October, 20:00 | 📍 Parnell Park

The Go-Ahead Dublin Senior 1 Football Championship reaches its conclusion under the lights at Parnell Park as Na Fianna face Ballyboden St Enda’s for the 2025 county title, with live coverage on TG4.

Na Fianna are aiming to lift the Clerys Cup for the first time since 2001, while Ballyboden are chasing a fifth county crown and their first since 2019. It’s a fitting final pairing, and the same fixture opened this year’s championship back in the summer.

Both teams have shown real grit to reach this stage. Na Fianna edged Kilmacud Crokes in a thrilling semi-final by just a point, with David Quinn, Conor McHugh and captain James Doran standing out in attack. They’ve been masters of close contests throughout this campaign, showing resilience and a knack for late winners.

Ballyboden, meanwhile, have been the most consistent side in Dublin football this year. Darren O’Reilly, Daire Sweeney and Ryan O’Dwyer have been in prolific form, with Sweeney’s late goals turning their semi-final clash with Cuala on its head and eliminating the All-Ireland Champions. That comeback victory proved why Boden are among the county’s most seasoned championship outfits.

With both sides packed with experience, scoring power, and big-game pedigree, this has all the ingredients of a classic Dublin final.

Cork PSHC Final: Sarsfields v Midleton

📅 Sunday 19 October, 15:15 | 📍 Páirc Uí Chaoimh

It’s a heavyweight clash in the Rebel County. Sarsfields, last year’s Munster champions and 2023 Cork winners, are looking to reclaim the county crown. They’ve cruised through this season unbeaten, their average winning margin a huge eight points. Colm McCarthy (0-39) and Jack O’Connor (1-22) have been deadly in attack.

Midleton, champions in 2021, have fought their way back to the final through narrow wins over Glen Rovers and Blackrock. However, they face a serious setback, with star forward Conor Lehane ruled out through injury. Lehane’s 0-49 tally will be hard to replace, so Cormac Beausang and the supporting forwards must step up.

With Páirc Uí Chaoimh set for a big crowd, this one has all the makings of a thrilling Cork hurling final.

Munster LGFA Quarter-Final: Comeragh Rangers (Waterford) v Éire Óg (Cork)

📅 Saturday 18 October, 14:00 | 📍 Mollerans GAA

Waterford’s Comeragh Rangers return to provincial action after ending Ballymacarbry’s famous 42-year reign last season. They’ve now beaten their long-time rivals by 16 points to retain the county crown and look hungry for a first ever Munster title.

In their county final, Comeragh dominated from start to finish. Emma Murray’s midfield display and four different goal scorers showed their depth. The Power sisters and Kaci Brazil also starred in a 4-11 to 0-7 win.

Cork champions Éire Óg arrive full of belief after finally breaking their Senior-A final hoodoo. They overcame Aghada in a hard-fought replay, 1-12 to 1-8, with Lisa Murphy and Laura Cleary crucial up front.

Two in-form sides collide here. The flair of Waterford’s champions against the resilience of Cork’s first-time winners. Expect an open and gripping contest.

Kilkenny SCC Final: Dicksboro v Piltown

📅 Saturday 18 October, 15:30 | 📍 Nowlan Park

Reigning champions Piltown meet Dicksboro for the Michael Lyng Motors Senior County Camogie title.

Dicksboro, All-Ireland Camogie Champions in 2023, impressed in their semi-final, beating Tullaroan 2-11 to 0-8. Jenny Clifford hit two goals while Aoife Prendergast added seven points in a dominant display. Their balanced mix of youth and experience makes them formidable.

Piltown were equally convincing, defeating St Brigid’s 3-13 to 0-10. Goals from Aoife Norris, Laoise McKenna and Sophie Holden underlined their attacking power. Kellyann Doyle’s frees remain a key weapon.

Both sides boast county stars and strong benches, so expect a tight, physical encounter at Nowlan Park.

Limerick SHC Final: Doon v Na Piarsaigh

📅 Sunday 19 October, 15:30 | 📍 TUS Gaelic Grounds

In Limerick, it’s a repeat of last year’s decider as Doon and Na Piarsaigh go head-to-head once again for the John Daly Cup, with live coverage available on LimerickTV.

Twelve months ago, Doon ended a 136-year wait for their first ever senior hurling title by beating Na Piarsaigh by a single point. Now, Derek McGrath’s men are aiming for back-to-back crowns – a dream that once seemed impossible for the east Limerick outfit.

Adam English has been in sensational form, scoring 1-43 in this year’s championship, while Darragh O’Donovan and Pat Ryan continue to lead by example. Their recent draw with Na Piarsaigh in August showed there’s very little between the two sides.

Na Piarsaigh, under Shane O’Neill, will be desperate to reclaim their crown. The six-time champions have been in strong form, topping their group and impressing in a semi-final win over Kilmallock. The return of Peter Casey has boosted their attack, while Adrian Breen (4-14) and Daithí Dempsey provide plenty of scoring power.

Defensively, Na Piarsaigh have been rock solid, conceding just 5-73 compared to Doon’s 7-97. Mike Casey and Vince Harrington anchor a unit that shut down the dangerous Shane O’Brien in the last round.

Both sides are unbeaten in this year’s championship, and with form, history, and revenge all on the line, Sunday’s clash at the Gaelic Grounds promises to be an epic.
