A nice touch from Fury

Tyson Fury has sent Deontay Wilder a message to celebrate his birthday on Twitter two weeks after Fury’s 11th-round knockout win over the American.

Wilder turned 36 on Friday (22 October) and his most recent opponent seemed in kind spirits as he wished the ‘Bronze Bomber’ a happy birthday.

Fury started off the message by saying: “Hey this is Tyson Fury, a.k.a the ‘Gypsy King’.

“This is a very special happy birthday message to my old mate Deontay, the ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder.”

The WBC heavyweight champion then went on to thank the American for their three battles in the ring, which ultimately ended in Fury claiming the win.

He said: “Have a fantastic day Wilder. Thank you for the great fights that we had, the trilogy. Great fighter, awesome fighter.

“I hope you have a fantastic day with you and your family and I hope that God blesses you abundantly.

“All the best, lots of love, from your old pal, the ‘Gypsy King’.”

This comes after a series of events in the aftermath of the fight where Fury had accused Wilder of a lack of sportsmanship after he went to speak to the American in his corner following his win in Las Vegas.

However following several negative reports about Wilder’s behaviour, he silenced the rumours with a heartfelt post on his own social media in which he congratulated Fury for the win, saying: “Last but not least I would like to congratulate @gypsyking101 for his victory and thank you for the great historical memories that will last forever.”

And it now seems like all ill feelings have been settled once and for all after a lovely message from Fury.

Hopefully he’s been invited to Wilder’s birthday party too.
