Tyson Fury reveals what happened when he sparred Anthony Joshua

"There were 10 people in the gym who saw him do it."

Tyson Fury is surely only one win away from a clash with Anthony Joshua.

There is a three-way battle of undefeated records currently taking place at the top of the heavyweight division and one candidate will likely fall out of the running on December 1, when Fury gets his shot at the WBC heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder.

With Joshua currently holding the majority of the belts in the division, he will almost certainly be next up for the winner of Wilder vs. Fury.

Should Fury come out on top against ‘The Bronze Bomber’ in Los Angeles, the biggest British fight of all time will be on the cards but ‘The Gypsy King’ is very confident of handing Joshua the first defeat of his career because of what took place when they shared the ring with one another as youngsters.

“We’ve had a spar before,” Fury told Showtime. “Amateur boxer he was at the time, he had a good couple of rounds and then I started hitting him round the body.

“He was like this, lifting his legs up in the corner. There were 10 people in the gym who saw him do it.

“I’m there with my hands down and flicking him, leaning out of the way. He’s coming forward with big swings. How’s he going to hit me? I said: ‘Go on then, put one on me, I’ll stand still for you’. He just can’t win. It was what it was.”

Joshua recently moved to 22-0 by defending his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles with his victory over Alexander Povetkin in London.

Wembley is booked for 13 April, 2019 for Joshua’s next outing and any opponent other than the winner of Wilder vs. Fury would be a massive disappointment.

But Fury believes that ‘AJ’ is afraid of him and will do anything possible to avoid sharing the ring with him.

“He seems pretty spirited, doesn’t he? But when I stood face-to-face with him and said, ‘Do you want to get outside?’ His arse started flapping. He shit himself!” Fury said.

“It doesn’t matter what weight I was at the time. I wasn’t in shape but I’d have taken him outside and kicked his cunt right in for him.

“If a man said that to me – I don’t care if I was unfit or not – he’d be outside and punched. We’d have had to have a fight. Simple. I don’t care who he is or what he is.

“But I said that to him and he didn’t want to know.”
