Tyson Fury's message to Deontay Wilder in 2017 has aged like a fine wine

The comeback story of Tyson Fury is nothing short of inspirational and he well and truly wrote the ultimate ending last weekend after his emphatic 11th round knockout win against Deontay Wilder.

The 33-year-old has had to fight back from depression, somehing the 'Gypsy King' has discussed openly, going into detail about his personal battle which saw him even contemplate taking his own life at one stage.

However a message that was recorded by Fury back in 2017 has recently resurfaced in which he talks about making a comeback.

And who would be the main source of inspiration for his come back? None other than most his recent opponent Deontay Wilder, after the American had written off his chances of ever returning to the ring. In the video, Fury can be seen saying:

"Guess who’s back? The one and only.

"Shout going out to the big ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder. Big respect, for giving me the motivation, telling me I can’t do it and that I’m finished.

"I’m coming back for you baby. I’m coming back for you!"

Four years and three fights against Wilder later - two of them being victories - it's fair to say that Fury stuck to his word. The win took his professional record to 32 wins in 32 fights and following the knockout blow, he went on to claim he is the "greatest heavyweight of my era" and it's hard to argue otherwise.

In front of a capacity-crowd arena in Las Vegas, Fury and Wilder delivered one of the greatest fights of the heavyweight era, with both boxers landing strikes on their opponents to knock them down in the third and fourth rounds respectively.

During a close-fought battle, the 'Gypsy King' began to assert his dominance, and it looked as if it would be over in the seventh round with Wilder hanging on for life. But somehow, the American managed to make it through four more rounds until the deciding knockout punch, which wrote the final tale in Fury's ultimate comeback.
