Tyson Fury responds to latest rumour surrounding Deontay Wilder fight

Reports claimed Fury was having second thoughts

Tyson Fury has rubbished claims that he’s having second thoughts about his clash with Deontay Wilder.

Fury and Wilder have agreed to a fight this winter but without an official date or location, doubt was cast on the heavyweight title meeting over the weekend.

Esteemed boxing journalist Dan Rafael has suggested that Fury is attempting to back out of his shot at the WBC heavyweight title.

“The latest from Fury’s team is that he is now apparently balking at the fight. I was told that yesterday by a member of his management team,” Rafael claimed.

“All I know is what one the members of his management team told me that he thought he might need another fight first. Who knows what will happen?

“Maybe he is just negotiating. If he punks after all that hype last week, shame on him.

“We’ll see what happens. Hopefully, it gets done.”

Fury has fought just twice since his lengthy spell away from the ring, claiming a fourth round stoppage over Sefer Seferi in June before dominating in a unanimous decision win over Francesco Pianeta last weekend.

While the undefeated Brit has returned to his usual fight weight after ballooning up to 27 stone, some have suggested that he has not quite shaken off enough ring rust to be ready for a world title fight.

But Fury has dismissed Rafael’s assertions that the bout with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is in jeopardy.

“Just a quick update, I’ve been reading and I’ve heard some rumours that this fight is off with me and Wilder. Not on my watch it ain’t. I’m not pulling out of nothing, it’s on like Donkey Kong,” Fury said on Instagram.

“Tyson Fury is like a king coming to America!”
