Touching moment as Dana White picks up vulnerable Conor McGregor

He didn't have anything to apologise for.

Conor McGregor initially appeared to have taken his defeat to Floyd Mayweather remarkably well.

"It feels like I just lost a football match," McGregor said in the dressing room in the moments immediately following his lucrative boxing debut ended in the 10th round courtesy of a flurry from the man who'd just extended his professional record to 50-0.

'The Notorious' was in great spirits when he met reporters in the post-fight press conference in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, toasting his payday with his very own brand of whiskey and joking with Mayweather's team. But McGregor is a competitor first and a businessman second. And the defeat weighed heavy on his heart because the Irishman legitimately felt as though he could have shocked the world. Heartbreaking footage has since emerged of McGregor apologising to UFC President Dana White for coming up short in the ring. The UFC acted as a co-promoter for the unique tilt and White had invested plenty of time and money into his lightweight champion but there was absolutely no need for an apology from McGregor because he'd given it his all.

"Sorry? Dude, I'm ecstatic!" White said as he rubbished the apology. "Be proud. I'm telling you, you are unbelievable."

The pair then embraced in emotional footage shown in the final All Access feature on the fight last weekend.
