Taylor faces Serrano again in New York on Saturday morning

Things are getting tasty ahead of Katie Taylor’s highly-anticipated third bout with Amanda Serrano on Saturday morning, as the Irish boxer said she’d had enough of the “whining and complaining” from her opponent.

There are a remarkable 17 straps on the line across five bouts at Madison Square Garden in New York, a Guinness World Record, with Taylor (24-1) and Serrano (47-3-1) the main attraction.

Taylor beat Serrano for the second time in Texas in November, but Serrano later used a Netflix interview to accuse Taylor of intentional headbutting.

At Thursday’s press conference, Taylor said: “The fact is, I am 2-0 against her. Opinions are opinions, but facts are facts. I’m just sick of the complaining and whining from your team.

“The only thing that matters is that I’m 2-0 against her. I plan on staying unbeaten against her.”

She also told RTE: “Enough is enough, I have no problem speaking my mind when I need to. There’s a time to stay silent and a time to speak up, and this is my time to speak up.”

Serrano later replied with a barb when asked how she was planning to take down Taylor, saying: “I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me.

“We’re going to be smarter, work smarter. I did work a lot smarter for this fight and I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”

Taylor and Serrano initially met in a classic at Madison Square Garden in 2022. Serrano has lost only three times in her professional career, two of those coming at the hands of Taylor.
