David Haye reminded of what he said on Monday by Scouse fight fans

That was nice of him

“Get them to bet all of their dole money on Tony Bellew to win the fight, if they are so confident.”

David Haye tempted the absolute fuck out of fate.

Haye was a significant favourite to make Bellew’s heavyweight debut a miserable one on Saturday night.

‘The Hayemaker’ was nothing if not confident in his ability to get his fierce rival out of there early once the opening bell rang.

After threatening to “hospitalise” Bellew, Haye offered what turned out to be excellent betting advice to the Liverpool fighter’s hardcore supporters.

“I’m really happy you’ve all come out,” Haye said at a press conference in Liverpool on Monday. “Bet all the money you have. Each and every one of you should bet on Bellew to win the fight.

“You know your fighter is going to get drilled. When he comes back to Liverpool be there for him, because he’s going to need you.”

The odds didn’t drift enough to suggest that all of Merseyside had emptied its savings to back ‘Bomber’ for victory but there are more than a handful of fight fans who are very eager to thank Haye for his fantastic betting advice.

Haye, as we’re sure you already know, suffered an unfortunate ankle injury midway through his grudge match with Bellew which set the underdog up perfectly for the upset.

And while nobody wants to see an athlete crash out of competition due to injury, there was not an awful lot of sympathy offered to Haye, which is somewhat understandable given his pre-fight comments on Liverpudlians.
