Let's hope they make it to fight night this time...
It finally looks like we're going to get some closure on one of the most frustrating rivalries in modern boxing as a new date has been set for the rematch between Gennady Golovkin and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Bullshit was called on the initial meeting between two of the most feared men in the fight game, which took place last September, after a controversial split draw was announced following what appeared to be a clear victory for Golovkin.
Accusations of the Nevada State Athletic Commission angling for a lucrative rematch and incompetence on the part of judge Adalaide Byrd ran riot but a second clash was organised for May of this year however that fell apart when Alvarez failed a drug test.
With frustrating negotiations dragging on between the camps for a rescheduling of the fight, Alvarez's promoter Oscar de la Hoya set a deadline of noon on Wednesday for Golovkin to accept his terms which were believed to be 42.5% of the purse split compared to Canelo’s 57.5%.
The deadline came and went with no update but, suddenly, confirmation arrived in the form of a tweet from Golden Boy's official Twitter account.

The rematch is set for September 15, that much we know.
At the time of writing, no other details are known about the contest other than that it will garner massive mainstream attention and hopefully put a full stop on the argument about who is the superior fighter.
Let's just hope Adalaide Byrd is nowhere near the arena.
