Anthony Joshua has sung Katie Taylor’s praises ahead of the Irishwoman’s next step on her unification journey.

Taylor is in Philadelphia, preparing for her clash with WBO lightweight champion Rose Volante on Friday night, and the Bray boxer is heavily favoured to extend her unbeaten record.

On multiple occasions, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has named Taylor as his favourite fighter and now she has received a huge compliment from one of the greatest fighters on the planet.

Taylor’s Matchroom stablemate Anthony Joshua, who holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles at heavyweight, has admitted that he continues to learn from the Irish Olympic legend.

When asked for his opinion on Taylor, ‘AJ’ revealed that he sees room for improvement in himself when he watches the 32-year-old in action.

“When I watch her, I learn from her as well,” Joshua told Sky Sports. “Even as a champion, I watch her and think I need to do something like that. She has her skills and technique down to a tee.

“I think for Katie and anyone who is fighting, it’s just important to be yourself. She’s definitely going to become undisputed champ.

“She’s very calming, which is working for her, she’s a beast in the ring, and just keep on doing what you’re doing.

“Some people talk a good game on the outside, but they don’t fight like it on the inside.”

Should Taylor come through the Volante test unscathed, she will receive an undisputed title fight with WBC champion Delfine Persoon on the undercard of Joshua’s upcoming bout with Jarrell Miller on June 1.
