We can’t blame Anthony Joshua for his Mayweather vs. McGregor prediction

Not even a hint of fence-sitting

Anthony Joshua is staying loyal to his own game.

Some might have thought that ‘AJ’ would have sided with the new breed of social media-savvy fighter in Conor McGregor ahead of the biggest fight of the year but it will surprise few to learn that he’s, in fact, hoping for a Floyd Mayweather win.

Joshua is currently in Las Vegas and has been training out Mayweather’s gym ahead of the expected announcement of a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko, which will almost certainly take place in the fight capital of the world.

And whilst the London 2012 gold medallist has been putting at work in one of the most iconic boxing gyms in the United States, he granted an interview to a reporter and laid out his allegiance to his fellow pugilist ahead of the August 26 spectacle.

“I’m with Mayweather. I’m a fan of the TMT camp,” Joshua told Dontae’s Boxing Nation.

“You can’t talk sh*t to a champion like that. Mayweather’s done it since the amateurs, people forget. He’s done it from ground zero, let’s not forget.”

“Everybody only remembers Mayweather from his last 10 fights,” he added. “He’s had it hard.

“But it’s entertainment and Conor knows how to sell a fight but you can’t f**k with Mayweather. He’s done it from the ground up.”

He’s not the first boxing star to side with Mayweather and he sure as… sugar won’t be the last.
