WATCH: Usain Bolts records fastest 200m of the year AFTER he slows down to joke with rival

200 metres scaled in 19.78 seconds and it wasn’t as if he was pumping the gas the whole way.

Usain Bolt runs fast. Even when he’s not running fast, he’s running fast.

The Jamaican breezed into the 200m final on Wednesday night with a routine semi-final win and he managed to share a joke with Andre De Grasse on the way to the line.

The 21-year-old Canadian, who won bronze in the 100m final, was busting his hole trying to get ahead of Bolt and he could even see the funny side of his fruitless efforts.

Bolt spoke about it afterwards to the BBC and he still seemed confused that someone would run so hard for a semi-final.

“Andre was supposed to slow down. He didn’t,” he joked.

“I said: ‘What are you doing, it is the semis?’ He said he had to push me.

“I was a bit lazy, I don’t know why, but I executed it.”

It all looked like a bit of craic, even en route to the fastest time of the year. De Grasse gave it his all but still came in 0.02 seconds behind Bolt in a time of 19.80.
