Allison Stokke loves a thrill

Spiders, no problem. A scary haunted house on Halloween, not a bother. Heights,no way

It takes a certain person to be flung up into the air held up by nothing more than a bit of fibreglass, or bamboo if you’re going old school.

Pole vaulting is one of the most enjoyable sports to watch purely for the skill involved in the athlete hoisting themselves into the air, and then over a bar several feet off the ground.

The attraction is whether the pole-vaulter can generate enough momentum to prevent a crashing fall back down to earth and contort their body around the bar at the top.

If you ever fancied having a go then you might want to have a look at this fantastic GoPro footage of American Allison Stokke who shows you exactly what happens when you attempt to vault.

It gives you a brilliant idea of what the athlete experiences when lining up for an attempt and to be honest we kind of want to go out and try leaping over things right now, just for the craic.

If we don;t make it to work tomorrow, you know what happened.
