Video: Spectators riot at Melbourne Darts show

Some of the crowd chanted: 'Chairs up, if you love the darts'

These lads make the crowd at Alexandria Palace look like choirboys.

Play was suspended at a darts competition in Australia last night after spectators started a riot. The crowd, most of whom were in fancy dress costumes, began throwing chairs and brawling at the invitational tournament in Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium.

Michael van Gerwen and Simon Whitlock were at the oche when play was stopped. The overly boisterous crowd began tossing chairs and tables, while some began fighting amongst themselves. Security attempted to calm the situation, but the large seating area was destroyed by the crowd.

Play eventually resumed, with van Gerwen winning the match 9-8.

Here’s some images of the incident, including of one Robin and an Oompa Loompa breaking up a fight between a large man and Crusade Knight.
