And, given the Channel 4 news presenter's reputation you have to respect Sebastian Coe for squaring up to him yesterday.
However given the catastrophic WADA report that had been released in to IAAF's terrible mismanagement of doping in athletics, the head of the IAAF should have known what was coming.
Now president of the embattled athletics organisation, Coe was deputy to Lamine Diack when the worst of what is detailed in the WADA report was happening. Diack is now being investigated on corruption charges and Coe is left to take the kicking.
Snow was not slow about sticking the boot in.
"You were deputy, you werenumber two in the whole place and you made no effort to scour the place for drugs," said the veteran journalist.
"People will say there are only two choices here: either you were asleep on the job or you were corrupt."
Coe didn't back down, but couldn't ignore the mess athletics find themselves in.
"We need to look at the systems in place. The answer may well be that we fell down on the job," he said.
"I will do whatever it takes to fix."
Watch it below, in hindsight former 1,500-metre Olympic gold medallist Coe might wish he had run a mile.
