2021 marks a decade of Run in the Dark events, with millions raised for charitable causes and tens of thousands taking to the streets each year.
Ru in the Dark was founded by blind and paralysed adventure athlete Mark Pollock and is all about getting participants to get out, get active and to challenge themselves.
The next staging of the event will take place on November 17 with an expected 25,000 taking part in 2,000 locations across the globe. In anticipation of the event, organisers have released a video that will resonate with runners of all levels.
The 90 second film, Find Your Way, captures the struggle of runners everywhere, and the sometimes hidden causes that help them rise in the morning, pound the streets, and keep moving – even in the face of adversity. Pollock comments:
"I’ve always found that knowing 'why' you get up in the morning helps you put up with the tough stuff.
“For me, it’s about helping people build resilience and collaborate with others to achieve more. This sits across everything I do, including my goal to bring people together to cure paralysis in our lifetime.
"Millions of paralysed people worldwide don’t have the option to walk or to run or even to stand up but you can help change that this year. All of the donations and fundraising will support our charity partner Collaborative Cures to bring people together to cure paralysis in our lifetime."
There are still places left for Run in the Dark 2021. If you haven't found your 'why' yet, this video should get you plenty motivated:
