The Irish pair started strongly and were in second place, in their semi, with 500 metres to go. They eventually slipped back to third but it was enough to secure them a spot in the A Final and give themselves every chance of a podium finish and Olympic glory. That final will take place tomorrow.

The pair's fantastic outing set the scene for the O'Donovan brothers, from Cork, and they didn't disappointed. Their third place finish secured them a final berth too.
